Cell Culture

Our cell culture facility is housed in the BSL3-ag rated high containment cell culture laboratory in the Animal Health Research Center (AHRC) and is used to produce non-microbial products such as mammalian cells and viruses, and cell-derived proteins, particularly antibodies and vaccines. The AHRC is the only university-operated BSL3-ag laboratory in the United States and is a unique resource available to clients on a service basis. Trained in high containment techniques and working closely with University of Georgia faculty from the Department of Infectious Diseases and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, our staff can safely work on projects that clients would not be able to carry out in a conventional laboratory setting.
